Bérénice

Bérénice - Jean Racine Racine in the preface mentions sophocles's Ajax and philocteles as examples of tragedies that are more effective because of the restrictiveness of the plot. Berenice is true to this model, and manages to touch upon the complexities and richness of human emotions despite its very limited synopsis.
